Position
Programme Manager, Advocacy & Networking, Gender Justice and Diversity Programme
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide technical support in developing and implementing viable gender advocacy work plans for Gender Justice and Diversity programme in line with BRAC Gender Strategy;
- Develop result-based advocacy strategies relevant with gender integration initiative in sectoral programmes and enterprises;
- Define strategies in collaboration with Advocacy for Social Change to promote gender equality in line with BRAC Gender Strategy;
- Lead gender mainstreaming in education, scale-up plans and methodologies to achieve gender equalities and women empowerment programmatic goals.
- Develop policy briefs/ concept note / position/ key note papers on gender within organization, programmes, as well as at national level through a process of critical analysis and reflection;
- Enhance the capacity of BRAC staff for the better use of knowledge and creating evidence based advocacy
- Lead Gender Justice and Diversity for high level policy advocacy, negotiate and lobby with relevant ministries, directorates and strategic partners and represent BRAC in different national, regional and international meetings/workshops/ seminars.
- Develop and maintain partnership with right based organization/ platforms/ alliances/ forums and CSOs to promote social movements/ campaigns focused on VAWC, Child Marriage, and Engage Men and Boys (EMB) etc,
- Representing BRAC to GNB and EMB Steering Committee and provide technical support for the smooth implementation ‘Promoting Gender Justice, Strengthening Engage Men and Boys Network for Reducing Violence against Women and Children in Bangladesh’ project funded by Amplify Change EMB Project.
- Provide advocacy support to BRAC Road Safety Programme and lead partnership with Social Innovation Lab (SIL) for experimenting the initiative for reducing violence in public transport using behavioral science;
- Lead documenting best practices, lesson learned, documents and experiences on gender aspects for effective advocacy.
- Lead BRAC’s celebration of days and events (Women’s Day, Girl Child Day, 16 Days of Activism) for promoting women rights.
- Prepare AoP, budget, financial management and procurement process for Advocacy and Networking Unit
- Provide technical support to develop IEC/BCC gender advocacy materials and capacity building of popular mass movement in line with BRAC Gender Strategy across BRAC Program
- Strategic lead towards the use of media (print, electronic and social) to communicate with larger people to advance a gender focused social and public policy to influence attitude and behavioral change.
- Initiate the process of implementing evidence based gender advocacy through close collaboration with KM , M&E and Gender Integration
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the safeguarding goals while acting as key source of support, guidance and expertise for establishing a safe working environment in accordance to its reporting procedures. Practice, promote, encourage and endorse the safeguarding policy and implement standards among team members in case of reportable incident.
Requirements
Educational Requirements:
Masters in Social Sciences/Development Studies/Gender Studies from any recognized university with minimum all second class / division or equivalent GPA / CGPA in academic examinations. No 3rd division / class or below CGPA 2.50 is acceptable
Experience Requirement:
- Having at least 8 years’ experience in the related field;
- Strong experience in strategic planning and policy formulation and experience in lobbying and media work
- Extensive campaigns experience with regard to using policy, research, lobbying, media and digital platform;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience on gender policy mapping, contributing to strategy development;
- Understanding and wide ranging experience of employing communication techniques and tools to influence an advocacy agenda.
- Experience in social mobilization and policy advocacy at national and international level
- Experience in alliance and partnership building
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal skill and ability to successfully manage complex and sensitive organizational relationships to achieve cross-organisational, collectively agreed goals;
- Proficiency in Bangla and in English;
- Strong linkage and networking with forums/influential actors;
- Time management, leadership, analytical ability, Multitasking, Facilitation, communication, presentation skill and report writing
